Teaser:

About fifteen minutes later, Letitia was by the pool side in search of a vacant sun lounger. Every colourful sunbed in sight either had a towel on it or it was occupied by a woman sunbathing or a man just chilling with his arms behind his head as he stared at the people walking by.

After a three-minute trek around the circular outdoor pool, fringed by tall palm trees, she found a lone lounger behind an occupied one under a palm tree. It was the perfect spot, with pretty shade from direct sunlight.

“Is the recliner behind yours free?” her question was directed at the man lying face down on a blue sunbed.

His toned butt cheeks were moulded to fit his clinging black swimming shorts to precision. And his evenly tanned wide shoulders tapered down to his lean waist. Her straying eyes flicked on to his thighs and legs coated with just the right amount of brown hair.

Right now, the muscles in his calves and thighs tensed as he leaned on one elbow to look up at her.

“Adam!” she shrieked as if he was an old friend. Walking among strangers in search of a lounger made finding a familiar face an event to celebrate.

He jumped from his lying position and rushed to stand beside her. “Hey! Where have you been? I looked for you yesterday.” A clear grin appeared on his face as his eyes roamed around her bikini clad body.

She had wrapped her towel around her shoulders. Her desire to get rid of her insecurities was the sole reason for her choice. But with his eyes feeding on every rise and fall on her body and the stretch marks on her thighs, she fought the urge to cover up.

“You look like you could use my company,” she teased with a huge smile to hide her discomfort. For no apparent reason, she wanted to walk into his big arms for a hug. Or maybe it was to hide from his eyes.

As if she had made her intention known by telepathy, Adam lifted one eyebrow, stretched out his hands and she hurried straight on without a moment’s hesitation.

“I missed you, yesterday,” he cooed in her hair as he kept his arms wrapped around her waist and shoulders. “It’s good to see you again.”

Sighing with a great deal of contentment, Annora squeezed her arms around his waist. Hard muscles– warm and lively–singed her breasts and entire skin. She could stand within his hold for a whole day. “It’s nice to see you again too,” she confessed. “I felt lost walking around here by myself.”

“Was kind of lonely for me too,” he added in understanding, as his fingers splayed on her upper back. He did not touch her in a sensual way, but exhilaration sprayed through her insides in a mad rush. Or was it relief racing around her body?

“I’m sorry I went off in a huff yesterday.” Apologizing to him now was not what she had in mind. Yet, her mouth uttered the words and she could not recall them.

“It’s okay. I was in a mood after the wallet incident. I took it out on you and I apologize.” He plucked her chin, so she had no choice but to stare into his eyes. “Do you want to sit down or do you want to swim?”

“Sit down,” he suggested with a chuckle when she did not say a word.

“Sorry. I was thinking about your missing wallet,” she fibbed to avoid admitting she was lost in his gaze.

“Oh, don’t worry about it. I called the card companies. And I’ve reported everything in the wallet stolen. I’ll get replacements.”

“That’s great,” she said, sitting down and shifting her bum from side to side. The cushioned sunbed was warm against her backside. She bet the warmth was from his body heat and not the sunshine. “I’m glad you’ve sorted it out.”

Adam dropped down to sit behind her. His thighs warmed hers and he cushioned her back with his chest. So many pairs of eyes turned to stare at them, but hurriedly looked away when Annora’s head came up.

While seated close to his gorgeous body, a healthy dose of confidence seeped from her head to her feet.

“I’m not going to mention how beautiful your body is or how I find your scent appealing. I’m just going to ask what you’ve been up to since yesterday and why you didn’t come out of your room.”

Apart from their thighs meeting briefly on the lounger, he did not touch her body, yet she struggled to take in air through her nose and let it out normally. Oh, but confidence erupted into something wonderful inside her and she leaned into him a little.

“I’m hoping you’re being honest about your compliments,” she said to him with a slight tilt of her head as she peered into his eyes.

When he met her gaze with a look of pure admiration instead of uttering a word, she nodded.

“Thank you for the kind words. I stayed upstairs because I didn’t want to see you again.”

His arms near her waist tightened instinctively. “Because of our bout?”

“Yes, and partly because we agreed to go our separate ways yesterday.”

He started to laugh and his hands around her relaxed. “I’m afraid we’re stuck with each other while we’re on this trip.”

She curved her backside in between his legs to stare at him directly. “Are we?”

#WriterWednesday with Author YM Sheree

Today's #WriterWednesday interview is with Author YM Sheree. Let's get to know her!

AT: Where do you live? What’s your town’s claim to fame?
YMS: I currently reside in Portsmouth, Virginia. The city is part of seven cities in the Hampton Roads area known for their shipyards that work on Naval vessels.

AT: Interesting! What genre do you write?
YMS: I currently write Interracial, Romance, African American, and Erotica but plan on writing in a few others.

AT: Are you a published author or aspiring to be published? If published, how many books are out there with your name on them?
YMS: I am a self-published author with four books out currently.

AT: Since I love romance, I'm definitely going to grab one of your books! What inspires you to write?
YMS: Sometimes movies or television shows inspire ideas that I compose my stories from. Also my supporters and readers inspire me to continue to write.

AT: Name one book you wish you’d written.
YMS: Any book written by Brenda Jackson, I wish I had written because I feel she is an amazing author. I love reading her stories.

AT: I agree! What was the last book you read? Did you enjoy it?
YMS: Xyla Turner wrote the last book I read and it is called Undertones. I enjoyed reading the book because she is an amazing author. I also had a little insight on her book while she was writing it because I was writing a my book at the time about an island as well.

AT: Adding it to my list! Who is your favorite author? Why?
YMS: One of my all time favorites is Brenda Jackson because I love the way she writes and her family series.

AT: Good choice! Now for the fun questions! You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?
YMS: If I was a new addition to a crayon box the color I would be is a mixture of purple and royal blue because they are my favorite colors. I guess I would call it royalty.

AT: Love it! What would your autobiography be called?
YMS: Now this is a hard question because I have never thought about it. Off the top of my head, I would say the tears of my soul.

AT: Beautiful. Do you believe in love at first sight?
YMS: When I was younger I believed in love at first sight but as I grew older I changed my mind. I would call it more of infatuation more than anything. I need to earn a person before I fall in love with them. It may work for others.

AT: I can understand that. If a genie granted you three wishes, what would they be? (can't ask for more wishes)
YMS: If I was granted three wishes from a genie I would choose success for my books, a better world that we live in, and great health.

AT: Great wishes. Are you spring, summer, fall, or winter? Please share why.
YMS: I will say winter because I am born in December and I have always loved the cold months. Also I love football and wearing high heeled boots.

AT: Love me some local football! Tea or coffee?
YMS: I can't choose between the both because I like them both.  I drink the cold coffee and hot and cold tea.

AT: Nothing wrong with that! Tell us about your most recent/current project.
YMS: The book I am working on now is called One Night to Forever.
Here is the blurb:

You can’t change everything in one night, but one night can change everything. – Unknown

About The Book
“In the Ring” introduces Dario “DC” Caivano, heavyweight champion, who is also a man with a heavy heart. It isn’t without reason, however. As a teenager, Dario witnessed the murder of someone that he loved like a brother, and it took a lot out of him. It hardened him and left little to trust. Years have passed since the horrific crime, but it hasn’t gotten Dario any closer to being a man that can love . . . or be loved. In fact, he’s his best self when he’s in the ring where he can release his aggressions, if only for twelve rounds of “play”, to escape to a world where he can repeatedly annihilate the person responsible for his cousin’s death.
But what happens when he allows himself to come up for air?
Chanel Norwood is a single parent and club owner who is something like a “Boss”. She’s fiercely independent and knows exactly what she wants out of life, and right now it isn’t to be in an intimate relationship. She’s too busy taking care of business and raising a preteen son. After a failed relationship, Chanel has sworn off men—especially athletes. In her eyes, she’s already had one too many.

But how long can you fight fate?

When Dario and Chanel are thrown together, while the attraction is there, sparks don’t immediately fly. Both of them have lives and hearts that they’re very protective of. But as time goes on, they find there’s more to guard than just emotions when their worlds collide in a way that no one ever expected.

“In the Ring” is not without its share of secrets, drama, and ah-ha moments. Overall, it’s a story of love, loss, life and paths to new beginnings.

“How did you get that bruise, Gary?” Adaora went to the kitchen cupboard and got out a tub of petroleum jelly while struggling to purge out the framed photo of his ribbed abdomen from her mind.

“A few of us made a dash for the bushes before they got to us. I tumbled down the rough ground a few times. We’d been trekking for hours avoiding the main road. Someone led us not too far from your house as we all went in different directions. As this bungalow seemed out of the way and bathed in darkness, I thought it was someone’s holiday home and I could borrow it to stay for the night. I didn’t know an angel was waiting to allow me in and to feed me.”

“An angel?” Adaora queried with a small smile. Jitters ripped through her chest.

“I’m human, Gary. Forgotten, yes. Abandoned, yes, but human. If anyone appears like an angel, it would be you. Here, let me apply petroleum jelly to your bruises. It would take away the sting and promote healing.”

blurb

Sean Flynn is a man with an appetite for fine women. This key element happens to be his greatest downfall. Flynn has always been loved, even worshipped by women from all walks of life. He's had his share of wealthy southern belles, princesses, a spoiled heiress, sensual intellectual types and most recently, a powerful professional diva. Though having very little in common with these women that crave this blue collar, tattooed Irishman, Flynn's been able to secure their affections. In many ways, he is living a life that most men would sell their souls for. But don't be fooled. Being desired by the best of women comes at a price, especially when these women are meant to be untouchable. Of all the men in the world, only Sean Flynn has been capable of setting them straight, and laying the pipe just right.

After consistently finding himself in trouble with the law, even having served time for lack of control, Flynn looks to make a change. But since he's already set the stage for the wrong types of relations, how can he so easily walk away?

As Flynn continues down this self-destructive path, he finds solace in an unlikely savior, yet another woman. Judge Lauryn Lomax is thrust into his life. Though she's attached, connected and indebted to career criminals, Lauryn refuses to give up on this man she barely knows.
Flynn has never relied on luck, in fact, it's consistently played against his favor. But when the right woman comes along, one that is willing to brave hell for his sake even as her own life hangs in the balance, can he believe that all things are possible?

excerpt

“What should I call you?” I ask as he takes a seat directly in front of my desk. I remove my robe. After placing it one side, I half sit-half lean against the edge of the desk. My gaze rests on his hands, mainly the way his fists flex while he draws his fingers inward and out.
“Under normal circumstances,” I begin, unsure of why I'm so compelled to proceed, yet needing to make sure he is and will always be okay. Though it's a treat to have him come before my bench, it might not always be my bench and he certainly wouldn’t always be this lucky. “Under normal circumstances, you would call me Judge Lomax or Your Honor. For now however, I’d like to set aside all formalities. Call me Lauryn.”
I smirk when his eyebrows shoot up. And when his tongue trails out from between his lips, I stand up and walk off towards the window. With that move of his, I'm bound to straddle his lap and forget myself altogether.
“This is a dangerous game, Lauryn,” Flynn warns from out of left field. I face him, finding it necessary to secure several inches, maybe even feet between us. He's still seated, but instead of sitting on the edge leans back into the chair. “Are you looking to step into the dark side? If so, that’s not me. But Lauryn, you appear to be innocent enough-“
Innocent? I almost want to laugh. Sure I'm capable of presenting an air of innocence, but that's a whole other story. “I’m only looking to help you out, Mr-“
“Just Flynn, that’s all,” he scolds, then gives me permission to proceed with a nod.
“I’m only looking to help you get back on track, Flynn.” I pace amongst the sunlight from the window, then finally move to the shades, slowly sauntering closer to where he remains.
“Why Lauryn?” he squints, taking one leg, bending the knee and resting the ankle of his boots over the other side knee. He wreaks of arrogance, even in the simplistic gestures. Without actually asking, without any type of force, I feel a pull to do whatever it takes to set him straight. When he asks why, I honestly can't give an answer, only that it's a done deal.
How can I convince him that it's just something I'm compelled to do? Other than the fact that he's sparked areas in and throughout my body, I can't come up with a feasible explanation. For someone that had flown through grade school like it was a kiddie race, and tackled undergrad and law school before their peers could blink, I am at a loss. Moreover, this isn't a want. This is a need to do whatever it takes to help him. So instead of answering the question and breaking the silence, I reach around my desk for my card. When I return back around to face him, Flynn has finally gotten up from the chair. He's within breathing distance, by breathing I mean to the point where we're literally exchanging air directly.
Two inches…just two inches separate us.
Neither one of us move. For more than ten seconds, we exist not as judge and criminal, or Flynn and Lauryn. We're man and woman. My neck is strained as I look up into his gorgeous face. His pupils examine me with a hint of curiosity; as for mine, I can only imagine. My heartbeat pulsates everywhere, and all at once. He's large enough and wide enough to take me into his arms; while I'm presently weak enough to let him. I'm set to collapse at any moment..
“Are you okay?” Flynn asks, showing a gentler side.
And I consider playing the innocent, vulnerable damsel in distress. For a second I toy with the idea of having him carry me over to one of the sofas. Totally inappropriate. And then I get a vision of Dmitri. Oh yes, the man I'm supposed to marry. “I’m fine, Flynn. Here’s my card. Reach out on Friday, please."
He takes the card, and leaves without another word.
I rush to the door, bracing my forehead against it. With palms pressed against my chest, I try to soothe the scorching of raw desire. I scold my thudding heart and try to refocus on the man I had already swore to love for life.
