HELP MAKE A POP-UP BOOKSTORE!

We've been selling books at comic cons, art festivals, and outdoor markets since 2010. It's time to embrace a new kind of bookstore, so we're building one.

Crimson Melodies Pub. is a small press that features speculative fiction with a dark or thrilling twist. Most of our heroes are flawed, and all of them will capture your attention. We've been publishing more than a book a year since 2009, ranging from dark urban fantasy to romantic suspense to historical fantasy with magical elements.

Kickstarter is a crowdfunding platform tailored for all sorts of creative projects. Creators offer rewards as a way to form a community and gather support for the project that they're working on. Our Kickstarter is about creating a pop-up bookstore. We're offering rewards as simple as a digital download of a short-story collection from our authors, to custom created artwork of the main characters in two of our published series. There's also bookmarks, stickers, and our entire catalog of books up for grabs.

Come find out how to get your next favorite summer read, or pick up a new favorite bookmark and stickers to decorate your tablet, phone, or e-reader. Plus you get to help make our new pop-up bookstore really come to life.

After the two have a chance meeting at a concert, a daring escape leads to an exploration of pain and pleasure that sets them both on the path to healing and an into an unlikely romance. However, the path to blissful happiness is never an easy one, as they both have their own demons to confront, including Michael’s jealous manager and Maya’s reluctance to deal with things she would rather forget. Top 7 #Books of 2017!

Hey, blogosphere! Today I'm sharing the top 7 books I read in 2017!! This list is formulated purely from my reading experience this year and of course, I didn't read every book in existence, so your list will most definitely differ from mine. These books are listed in no particular order. Here goes!
(Click on the covers to learn more about these books)

1. Haunted - a paranormal love story by [Jones, Christina C]
Haunted by Christina C. Jones reminded me what I used to love about romance. Now, I'm hooked on her work! I've never been a big fan of paranormal, but this right here? Whew! (Note: this is NOT a ghost story)

2. The Perfect Find by [Williams, Tia]
I was once a pop culture, fashion, magazine junkie and I loved it! I'd forgotten that part of my life and personality until this book. Man, when I tell you it was good! And it felt like a walk down memory lane. Great plot, wonderful array of characters, awesome writing! I LOVED it!!

3. In Covenant with Ezra (Love Unaccounted Book 1) by Love B... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014REI880/ref=cm_sw_r_pi_dp_x_w.IvzbRAJS1PR
I had to choose only one of Love Belvin's books, because to be honest, this entire little list could be just her books. Since this was my introduction to her, I chose this one. It's dark, and I like dark. My favorite movies as a kid were Mommy Dearest and Poltergeist. Yeah, I was strange. Still am. Anyway, Ezra, the hero (and I use that term loosely for book 1) was probably one of the most intriguing characters I've ever read! Complicated, troubled, sexy, a true enigma. I highly recommend reading the entire Love Unaccounted series, because you won't really understand these characters or their story if you stop at book 1. This series is one of the best I've read, and I plowed through the author's entire bibliography after finishing this book!

4. The Bed We Made by [Symone, Ivy]
So, I really tried to expand my reading horizons this year and read outside my self-constructed box. This is an urban love story full of twists and turns. It's dark (See a trend here?) and VERY inappropriate at times (Read at your own risk, but it was so good!). This was my first Ivy Symone read and I could not put it down, kept thinking about the characters when I wasn't reading, and still think about this story months after finishing it.

5. Behind Closed Doors: A Novel by B. A. Paris https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CXO4VRI/ref=cm_sw_r_pi_dp_x_sZLczb8TNX9QZ
Another dark one. Yeah, I really embraced my dark side this year, lol. Taut and disturbing with a satisfying ending. I listened to the audiobook and wholly enjoyed it!

6. Bell Bottom High: Book 1: Freshman Fears by [Williams, B.J.]
This is a YA series that appeals to adults who want to take a trip down memory lane. Soooooo nostalgic. I loved every word contained in this 4-book series!

7. Baby I'm For Real by [Brigham, W]
W Parks Brigham writes the SWEETEST love stories! They are full of romance, full-figured women being adored, and strong family ties. This one is no exception. Just a sweet, sweet read!

There you have it! What books are on your list of the top reads of 2017? Comment below and let me know so I can read them, too!

#WriterWednesday with Author KR Bankston

Today's author interview is with KR Bankston. Scroll down and get acquainted with her and her work!!!

AT: Where do you live? What’s your town’s claim to fame?
KRB: I live in Jonesboro GA, originally from Tallahassee FL. Honestly I am not sure what Jonesboro’s claim to fame is, but I do know that Tallahassee is home to a great HBCU, Florida A&M University and its world famous band.

AT: What genre do you write?
KRB: I honestly do not like to confine myself by genre. I write the story that wants to be told. I have written erotica, criminal romance, contemporary romance, horror.

AT: You're not one to be confined to boxes, I see, a true artist. Are you a published author or aspiring to be published? If published, how many books are out there with your name on them?
KRB: I am a published author with over 30+ titles to my credit.

AT: Wow!! What inspires you to write?
KRB: My inspiration comes from life. I have always written in some form for as long as I can recall. Sometimes as therapy through the bad, others to share in the good, and everything in between. My imagination is a wonderful gift from the Divine Creator so I never try and stymie it.

AT: We definitely share in that sentiment. Name one book you wish you’d written.
KRB: I cannot really say. I mean if you are referring to something on the market already, even then I cannot say. I am a firm believer that everything to be written by me, will be inspired and I will write it.

AT: What was the last book you read? Did you enjoy it?
KRB: The last book I was afforded the opportunity to read was entitled, I’ll Be Damned, which is an autobiography of Eric Braeden of Y&R fame. It was a wonderful read. It was very enlightening and entertaining. I am glad I took the time to check it out.

AT: I love memoirs. Gotta check that on out! Who is your favorite author? Why?
KRB: My favorite Authors are VC Andrews, and E. Lynn Harris. I love them both for the same reasons. They were masters of the serials. They could draw you in so deeply and passionately to the stories that you felt incomplete not reading all of them. I loved their use of language, expression, and description when writing.

AT: Love me some E. Lynn Harris! Now for the fun questions! You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?
KRB: Caramel Cayenne. Smooth and creamy on the outside, hot and fiery on the inside. Lol. I am very laid back person, pretty live and let live type, but if you push the right button, it will get very hot, very fast.

AT: Okay, we've been warned. LOL. What would your autobiography be called?
KRB: I see this question asked often, and honestly I don’t know. Maybe something very simple as “And I Still Ain’t Scared of the Mountains Left to Climb”

AT: Sounds good! Do you believe in love at first sight?
KRB: Yes! Now I can see anyone who thinks they know me laughing, but those who truly do will understand the answer. I am not the mushy romantic type, but hell yes I believe in love. Truly, madly, deeply!

AT: If a genie granted you three wishes, what would they be? (can't ask for more wishes)
KRB: Health, Wealth (different than riches), Breaking of every Generational curse over my bloodline.

AT: Love it! Are you spring, summer, fall, or winter? Please share why.
KRB: I’m a spring, summer, early fall type person. I love warmth, I love new life, I love watching the colors in nature change.

AT: Tea or coffee?
KRB: Tea (by default). I still love the smell of coffee but had to break the habit a few years back.

AT: Tell us about your most recent/current project.
KRB: I am working on a novel which steps away from some of the things my avid readers normally associate with a KR Bankston novel, but trust it will be great! Lol. I will only say small town, greed, arrogance, power, and progress,  in regard to the content of the story.

AT: Definitely sounds like the makings of a good story to me! How can readers connect with you.
KRB: I can be reached on my website, www.krbankstononline.com (contact), Twitter - http://twitter.com/KRBankston

AT: Any final words?
KRB: Thank you so much for allowing me this opportunity to connect and reach out to new readers. I would love to invite you all to give me the opportunity to woo you. Download the free novella from my website and enter the world of KR Bankston novels. Thank you to those who have supported the movement to this point. I appreciate you and I look forward to many more book adventures before we call this journey over. Lastly, please if you have not, Register and VOTE! Our voices are so important at this juncture in our country’s history. Not just national elections either, please vote in every election you can. Local elections are important!!

AT: Thanks for your words of wisdom, KR. It was wonderful getting to know you!

#WriterWednesday with Author Lori Titus

Today's featured author for Writer Wednesday is Lori Titus. Let's get to know her and her books!!

AT: Where do you live? What’s your town’s claim to fame?
LT: I am from Los Angeles, but I moved to a small town in Central California a few years ago. It’s a suburb, a community known for the oil industry and agriculture.

AT: Cool! What genre do you write?
LT: I wrote horror and paranormal mostly, though I am dipping into sci-fi/fantasy with one of my works in progress. I am sure that I will try out some other genres, but my work will always have some paranormal or horror element.

AT: I'm a fan of paranormal and of your work. I'm sure you'll conquer whatever genre you choose to tackle. Please let my blog readers know if you are a published author or aspiring to be published. If published, how many books are out there with your name on them?
LT: Yes, I am published. I have five novels and four novellas published under my name. I started working as a ghostwriter a few years ago, so I probably have closer to twenty titles under various names floating about with my DNA in them.

AT: Wow! What inspires you to write?
LT: I am inspired by so many things. Mostly the kind of thoughts you get a moment before drifting to sleep. Sometimes it’s things on television, people I know, snippets of things I hear in the news. It all depends on what’s going on around me. I think writers in general have a knack for turning just about anything into inspiration.

AT: I agree! Name one book you wish you’d written.
LT: Laini Taylor’s Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I read that book several years ago and it still sticks with me. It’s beautiful and awful at once. And the love story in that book? Absolutely incredibly well done.

AT: What was the last book you read? Did you enjoy it?
LT: I just finished reading Shonda Rhimes’ memoir. Everyone already knows she’s an awesome writer.  I’m impressed at how she can captivate the reader from beginning to end. You won’t be disappointed at all.

AT: I actually own that book. Gotta move it up my TBR now, lol.  Who is your favorite author? Why?
LT: My favorite? That’s a hard one! I can point to a lot of authors who were transformative. Koontz, King, Rice. Of course just about every writer I know mentions Poe and Shirley Jackson. Tananarive Due. Octavia Butler. And I keep trying to read and find new people that stir me up.

AT: Nice list! Now for the fun questions! You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?
LT: Hmmm. Raspberry Sangria. It would be the exact red-purple color of this iced fruit drink I get from the coffee shop. It is scrumptious!

AT: Sounds yummy...and pretty, lol. What would your autobiography be called?
LT: Many years ago, someone wrote me a letter titled “The Awful, Miserable State of Being Titus.”  That is too good to pass up.

AT: Man, sounds intriguing. Do you believe in love at first sight?
LT: Yes, I do. I have fallen in love at first sight at least twice. I’m hoping the third time is the one that sticks!

AT: I love it! If a genie granted you three wishes, what would they be? (can't ask for more wishes)
LT: Here’s where it gets difficult because I am not sure if I want things that are personal or things that will touch other’s lives. It would be beautiful to live in a world where no one was hungry or without a home. If I could get those two wishes I would probably not worry about a third wish, since those two are a lot for even the best genie. Plus, I’m not sure I trust genies…how do I know there won’t be some kind of horrific spin on whatever wish they grant me?

AT: Ha! True! Are you spring, summer, fall, or winter? Please share why.
LT: I am Spring and Fall. I love when it is warm or cool enough to enjoy the outdoors. I’m not a fan of summer (it’s usually well above one hundred degrees where I live) or winter (which usually lands here suddenly and is long and far too cold).

AT: Tea or coffee?
LT: I love my coffee. But I love tea too. Coffee is usually my morning drink but in the afternoon I switch to herbal tea. I’ve always got at least four different kinds in my cupboard.

AT: You don't play about your beverages, huh? Tell us about your most recent/current project.
LT: My latest novel is Blood Relations, a story about a religious cult. We follow the lives of several apostates to the group. The Congregate stalk their former members, and in some cases they do violent things. It’s a horror tale, and it’s very much about the consequences of giving over power to other people. The power of the group lies in their Hive Mind, and the ability to follow and abuse those who don’t follow orders.

This December, I have a book that will be featured in a box set along with a group of other paranormal authors called Sigils and Spells. I will have details about the pre-order date soon.

AT: How can readers connect with you?
LT:
I am on Twitter and Instagram as @Loribeth215
You can find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/lori.titus
Readers can follow my blog, The Darkest of Lore, at   https://Loribeth215.wordpress.com
I also write articles for a horror site called Gruemonkey:  www.gruemonkey.com

AT: Any final words?
LT: Thank you so much for interviewing me.

AT: My pleasure!
