It was just like Sen had said it would be.  All of a sudden, she just knew it was here.  It felt like time was catching up to itself so she could be hurled back into her own world.  Grace knew that there was no stopping it. She had just a few moments before all of the knowledge of this place would leave her, the Love, the Magic, the Pain, the Boy. 

Her heart, even though it had been Uncovered and glistened with the essence of pure emotion, began to break.  A small and life-altering crack edged along the perimeter.  It made a quiet rolling gesture along the surface of her heart and then as time found its trail of breadcrumbs back home, the crack made for the center.   It struck with the force of lightning.  All it left in its wake was a single Love letter.  A song he sang to her playing over and over again filling the void where her memory once was.

When she opened her eyes, she was alone in her bathroom again. The knife she held so long ago, was lying lifeless in the sink and all she could do was hum a strangely familiar tune, though she wasn’t sure where she had heard it before.

10 Things about The Bennu Project

Lots of research on historical African civilizations went into crafting The Bennu Project. Although I drew distinct lines between my research and the plot of the book, these ten subtleties are often overlooked:

1. Roha Taharqa is named after the last true Pharaoh of Ancient Egypt. 
2. The Bennu Project is not set in Ancient Egypt, but rather at KSH near Ancient Sudan. 
3. The Kandake character is similar to the real-life heroine Queen Nzinga of Angola. 
4. Most of the names of vehicles or weapons in The Bennu Project are mythological creatures derived from stories all over Africa. 
5. The personalities of some of the main characters are modeled after my children. 
6. The time era for this book is equivalent to the 1960s to 1980s; depending on the country in which the event occurs. 
7. The Bennu Project draws parallels with real-world events in several countries; with each country having its own corresponding planet. 
8. Most of the characters’ names came from various African dialects intended to correspond to that character, their motivations and behaviors. 
9. A significant event happens to one of the protagonists in Chapters 11 and 12. I often encourage my readers to reread that scene to fully grasp the message conveyed. 
10. I had initially intended to write three books in this series. However, by the time I completed The Bennu Project (the first book in the series); the epilogue led to a prequel trilogy in which some plots and characters will be explained in more depth.

To combat overpopulation on the planet Orion, the government releases a birth control virus to keep women from becoming pregnant. Only the brightest and most attractive of their species are allowed to mate. But the virus rages out of control, killing both mother and child. Attempts to develop a cure fail. They only have one option left: search other worlds for advanced societies that may be able to help.

The two most intelligent minds on Orion—and former best friends—Lucifer and Zues band together to search for a secret planet. When they finally arrive, they are greeted with unexplainable death and destruction. This planet is not the answer. Something doesn’t add up. They discover an extra unknown planet in the solar system.  

The new planet is covered in lush land masses and bodies of water. Different species of hominids run—and mate—freely. Fire-breathing dragons guard the land. Lucifer is determined to figure out who or what created this planet. He thinks it just might be the key to saving Orion and the Orionites.

Is there a god? Are we alone? What is the meaning of life? Why does it even exist at all?  BCE is originally from parts unknown and currently resides in areas of the planet yet to be explored. His favorite pastime is reading old encyclopedias while eating Peanut M&M’s. He does believe that the warehouse depicted at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark actually exists. He has only one goal left in his life that he wishes to accomplish: to live long enough to see the aliens return so he may look over at his beautiful wife in her nursing-home bed and say, “I told you so.”
