Book Title: Where My Heart Belongs

Genre: Christian Fiction Romance

About the Book:

Love guided them to precisely what they needed—each other.

From the moment Tyler Bradshaw first lays eyes on Madison Kanate, it’s a dream come true. She is everything he wants, yet everything he feels he cannot have. He is determined to keep his distance, but he can’t, not with the love she offers him. They become the best of friends. That works flawlessly, until she wants more….

That was seven years ago.

Madison has come a long way since falling apart at any reminder of Tyler. He had left her questioning God’s plan for her life, and uncertain of how to move forward. Eventually, she takes charge of her life, putting memories of Tyler to rest with a successful interior design business, along with many charitable projects. Anything else, especially love, ranks a distant second.

Tyler and Madison reunite through the shenanigan of Mason, Madison’s twin brother. Tyler wishes he could change the past… but life does not offer do-overs. Even so, he believes God has provided a golden opportunity for him—his last chance to win Madison’s heart. As he begins to open up about his childhood and trailing baggage, Madison realizes that his faith has been built in the face of adversity.

But Tyler’s childhood holds a secret even he doesn’t know. In the face of a staggering revelation that challenges the fabric of his faith, Tyler drops a bombshell of his own. When Madison tries to walk away, she recognizes that deep down she wants happily-ever-after. With her faith rekindled, she decides to trust God, believing she will not be left to pick up the pieces of her heart all over again. But will Tyler allow himself to heal so he can let Madison in? Will they move beyond the past and build a life together?

EXCERPT – Where My Heart Belongs:

His heart rate kicked up and he raked a hand over his head as uneasy dread shot through his veins. Still, wisdom demanded he move speedily to help, even if the situation would force him to come face-to-face with someone he was unprepared to see.

“God, help her,” he prayed aloud, before jumping into action.

He moved swiftly to grab his Jeep keys from the coffee table then rushed through the door. He did not relish the journey that now lay before him. Nor did he wish to confront the one thing that would never let him rest—the one painful remorse that continually aggravated his gut. The one thing in his life he needed to fix—his relationship with the woman he had nicknamed Em.

Madison Emma Kanate. She was his first love….

Once his soul found her, he loved her.

One look and he was helpless to her pull. She had caught his attention and lingered in his heart ever since. He had endured two years of being near Madison—drowning in her love. She always stirred him. Around her, he constantly felt the flutter of butterfly wings in his stomach. She made him feel things he longed for… things he couldn’t have.

Despite all the love she offered him, he could not bring himself to reach for her. Fear held him bound, propelling him to escape the source of his misery.

At the first opportunity, he had left it all behind.

He ran.

He had run away like a frightened animal.

And he had kept moving. He hadn’t looked back.

But, he couldn’t outrun the memories or the guilt that haunted him.

Teaser:

About fifteen minutes later, Letitia was by the pool side in search of a vacant sun lounger. Every colourful sunbed in sight either had a towel on it or it was occupied by a woman sunbathing or a man just chilling with his arms behind his head as he stared at the people walking by.

After a three-minute trek around the circular outdoor pool, fringed by tall palm trees, she found a lone lounger behind an occupied one under a palm tree. It was the perfect spot, with pretty shade from direct sunlight.

“Is the recliner behind yours free?” her question was directed at the man lying face down on a blue sunbed.

His toned butt cheeks were moulded to fit his clinging black swimming shorts to precision. And his evenly tanned wide shoulders tapered down to his lean waist. Her straying eyes flicked on to his thighs and legs coated with just the right amount of brown hair.

Right now, the muscles in his calves and thighs tensed as he leaned on one elbow to look up at her.

“Adam!” she shrieked as if he was an old friend. Walking among strangers in search of a lounger made finding a familiar face an event to celebrate.

He jumped from his lying position and rushed to stand beside her. “Hey! Where have you been? I looked for you yesterday.” A clear grin appeared on his face as his eyes roamed around her bikini clad body.

She had wrapped her towel around her shoulders. Her desire to get rid of her insecurities was the sole reason for her choice. But with his eyes feeding on every rise and fall on her body and the stretch marks on her thighs, she fought the urge to cover up.

“You look like you could use my company,” she teased with a huge smile to hide her discomfort. For no apparent reason, she wanted to walk into his big arms for a hug. Or maybe it was to hide from his eyes.

As if she had made her intention known by telepathy, Adam lifted one eyebrow, stretched out his hands and she hurried straight on without a moment’s hesitation.

“I missed you, yesterday,” he cooed in her hair as he kept his arms wrapped around her waist and shoulders. “It’s good to see you again.”

Sighing with a great deal of contentment, Annora squeezed her arms around his waist. Hard muscles– warm and lively–singed her breasts and entire skin. She could stand within his hold for a whole day. “It’s nice to see you again too,” she confessed. “I felt lost walking around here by myself.”

“Was kind of lonely for me too,” he added in understanding, as his fingers splayed on her upper back. He did not touch her in a sensual way, but exhilaration sprayed through her insides in a mad rush. Or was it relief racing around her body?

“I’m sorry I went off in a huff yesterday.” Apologizing to him now was not what she had in mind. Yet, her mouth uttered the words and she could not recall them.

“It’s okay. I was in a mood after the wallet incident. I took it out on you and I apologize.” He plucked her chin, so she had no choice but to stare into his eyes. “Do you want to sit down or do you want to swim?”

“Sit down,” he suggested with a chuckle when she did not say a word.

“Sorry. I was thinking about your missing wallet,” she fibbed to avoid admitting she was lost in his gaze.

“Oh, don’t worry about it. I called the card companies. And I’ve reported everything in the wallet stolen. I’ll get replacements.”

“That’s great,” she said, sitting down and shifting her bum from side to side. The cushioned sunbed was warm against her backside. She bet the warmth was from his body heat and not the sunshine. “I’m glad you’ve sorted it out.”

Adam dropped down to sit behind her. His thighs warmed hers and he cushioned her back with his chest. So many pairs of eyes turned to stare at them, but hurriedly looked away when Annora’s head came up.

While seated close to his gorgeous body, a healthy dose of confidence seeped from her head to her feet.

“I’m not going to mention how beautiful your body is or how I find your scent appealing. I’m just going to ask what you’ve been up to since yesterday and why you didn’t come out of your room.”

Apart from their thighs meeting briefly on the lounger, he did not touch her body, yet she struggled to take in air through her nose and let it out normally. Oh, but confidence erupted into something wonderful inside her and she leaned into him a little.

“I’m hoping you’re being honest about your compliments,” she said to him with a slight tilt of her head as she peered into his eyes.

When he met her gaze with a look of pure admiration instead of uttering a word, she nodded.

“Thank you for the kind words. I stayed upstairs because I didn’t want to see you again.”

His arms near her waist tightened instinctively. “Because of our bout?”

“Yes, and partly because we agreed to go our separate ways yesterday.”

He started to laugh and his hands around her relaxed. “I’m afraid we’re stuck with each other while we’re on this trip.”

She curved her backside in between his legs to stare at him directly. “Are we?”

#WriterWednesday with #Romance Author Stella Eromonsere-Ajanaku

The first #WriterWednesday interview for 2018 is with the lovely Stella Eromonsere-Ajanaku. Let's get to know her!

AT: Where do you live? What’s your town’s claim to fame?
SEA: I live in London, United Kingdom. London is the most visited city in the world by international tourists. We have centuries old Monarchy and we have, Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II as the reigning monarch. Her residence and administrative headquarters is located in Buckingham Palace, London.
Also, London has the most international and the largest stock exchange in Europe.

AT: Wow! What genre do you write?
SEA: Contemporary/Multicultural/Interracial Romance
African American Romance, Historical/Paranormal Romance

AT: Love me some romance! Are you a published author or aspiring to be published? If published, how many books are out there with your name on them?
SEA: I’m a published writer with 18 books printed with my name. I write about super sexy heroes and flirty & feisty heroines. My stories are a breath of fresh air, dotted with unexpected twists and are set in fascinating Africa, enticing Europe and enchanting America. An emotional spin with explosive chemistry between the characters you will fall in love with, is what you get when you read my books. Get ready to laugh, cry, and maybe even tear your hair out.

AT: Sounds so good! What inspires you to write?
SEA: Simply put, God inspires me to write. My head and heart ticks with characters that have heart and soul, life-size personalities, real emotion and conflicts. Their intense and twisting tales and dialogues keep me inspired to write. When I wake up, I reach for my phone, tablet or notepad to keep track of the storylines, plot twists and witty dialogue.

AT: Love it! Name one book you wish you’d written.
SEA: My Journey. It is still cooking in my head. Someday, I will write it.

AT: I believe you will. What was the last book you read? Did you enjoy it?
SEA: An Inconvenient Obsession by Natasha Tate. I loved it way too much. I laughed a lot, hurt a lot and loved the vivid description and intensity of the chemistry between the lead characters.

AT: I need to check that one out. Who is your favorite author? Why?
SEA: I realize I don’t really have favourite authors any more. I go by the individual books I read and enjoy. There is something I look for when I read a blurb. Once I find it, I don’t worry about who wrote the story.

AT: I can understand that. Now for the fun questions! You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?
SEA: Lilac! I love the beauty in the colour because I brighten up any mood and situation.

AT: What would your autobiography be called?
SEA: The Encourager

AT: Nice! Do you believe in love at first sight?
SEA: Oh yes!!! And Like at First sight too…lool! It happens all around us. And I love to write about characters who hit it off straight-away. There is just something super-romantic about love at first sight.

AT: Oh, I agree! If a genie granted you three wishes, what would they be? (can't ask for more wishes)
SEA: A) I want my motherland, Nigeria, to be a place flowing with milk and honey and a refuge for the hurting, hungry and lost. It is a nation blessed with natural resources by God, but exploited for the benefit of the few.
B) That everyone would know the love of God and of his son, Jesus Christ.
C) I want a beautiful, bespoke house by the seaside surrounded by my wonderful family. So I can write and daily appreciate the awesomeness of God in the vastness of the sea.

AT: Beautiful wishes! Are you spring, summer, fall, or winter? Please share why.
SEA: Summer for sure. I’m joyful, bright, and fruitful and love to spread the joy around.

AT: Tea or coffee?
SEA: Tea, always.

AT: Why does that not surprise me? LOL. Tell us about your most recent/current project.
SEA: It was a delight to write my new release, titled: “You’re Mine” ~ A Sweet & Steamy Romance. My heroine is African American and my hero has Italian/Nigerian origin. In “You’re Mine”, you will read all abouts the handsome luxury boat builder, Banjo Ricci who wants the fabulous Rachael Johnson, his mum's god-daughter, a woman who might just bring him to his charming knees in Fontvieille, Monaco.

"You're Mine": A Sweet & Steamy Romance by [Eromonsere-Ajanaku, Stella]

A Flirty & Feisty Romance Novel
~ Feelings too intense…to ignore ~

"Rachael’s beautiful, brainy & feisty. Every time I see her, my stomach walls tighten and heat gushes to my chest. But she’s out of bounds to me. Aside from the fact Rachael’s my mum’s god daughter, I think she’s pregnant. Only I don’t see any man showing up to claim responsibility for the bump she carries around with pride. But I’m in the city for about a month, not enough time to find out if I want her in my arms or to think of her as mine."
~ Banjo Ricci.

"Banjo’s hunky, sexy & mouthy. He has only come home for a short period to clean up his mum’s finances, yet he’s already sticking his nose in my affairs. Every time I see him, he has no shirt on his back. I should take my eyes off him for my own good. But his body is carved to perfection and his sexy tattoos beg for my touch. No matter how explosive the chemistry is between us, I need to face my health problems and get him out of my thoughts because there are things I can never tell him and there’s no way he’s mine."
~ Rachael Johnson

Putting up one hand, Banjo suggested. “I can meet you after your dance class. Tell me where to pick you up.”

With her eyes narrowing at him, Rachael backed away. “I’ve got to run some errands for your mom afterward. I’m serious I can’t go with you. I wish I could.”

There was no apology in her eyes, only an attempt to fob him off.
“Sounds like you’re making every effort to avoid being with me,” he pushed with a need to find out the exact reason she could not bear to be around him.

Gasping with her hands over her mouth, she blinked, looking around as if she was scared his mum could misinterpret his remark. “Why would you think I’m avoiding you? We share the same roof, don’t we?”

“The same reason you declined to give me the job in the first place,” Banjo chimed, adding, “and you know we’re hardly together even though we stay in the same house.”

To Banjo’s shock, his chest pounded waiting for an answer that was slow in coming. But why was Banjo resolute to make her spill her fears?

“Which is?” Rachael quizzed, her eyes hunting his openly and her kiss-me-now lips pressed together.

“The fact you find me easy on your eyes and you’re attracted to me.”

About The Book

Jillian watched so many of her friends date, get engaged and marry before her. She wondered what was taking so long. Jillian had done all of the right things. She had gone to school, built a thriving company, owned a home, drove a luxury car and dedicated years of service to her church and community. But, where was her love? Come experience the lessons, longing and love of Jillian Forrester. Have faith, your love is on the way too.

Excerpt:

Patricia walked into Jillian’s office closed the door quickly and fell backward against the door. Her eyes were upward and her body language said that she was about to faint and slide to the floor “Okay boss indulge me just a minute.”

“What going on? Besides you only call me boss when you could be in trouble or you’re getting ready to hurt somebody.” Jillian inquired

“Jillian, I’m about to put a hurting on somebody in a minute, but in a great way,” Patricia said softly.

“What’s up?” Jillian exclaimed.

“The representatives from Randolph Technologies are waiting to see you in the lobby. I have never seen three brothers look so good since my favorite group, ‘Guy,’ back in the day,” Patricia closed her eyes and did a slight shake and shimmy from her shoulders to her waist.

“Okay, Patricia, your minute is up and the key to this company not going down the toilet is on the other side of that door. Girl, get a grip and show them in,” said Jillian with a slight frown.

“Okay, are you ready?” Patricia straightened her clothes and mimicked putting her hair back in place.

“Yes, I am ready and show them in already,” Jillian then gave Patricia a sharp look while putting the last papers in a folder and coming from behind her desk.

Patricia opened the door to the lobby and said to the visitors, “Gentleman, Ms. Forrester will see you now.” Three very handsome gentleman entered Jillian’s office.

Patricia continued, “Ms. Forrester, this is Mr. Byron and Myron Randolph, the CEO and President, respectively of Randolph Technologies and their associate, Mr. James Jones.”

“Jillian, is that you?” asked Byron as he stopped dead in his tracks at the sight of her face. Byron took a long sweep over Jillian from head to toe. Letting his eyes thoroughly glance over every inch of her body. Jillian was checking Byron out right back and blushing greatly on the inside and out. Jillian was thanking God that her milk chocolate skin could hide how hot her cheeks were getting at Byron’s glance. Jillian remembered that Byron was always the ladies’ man of the two. She knew that she couldn’t take what he said seriously because he could be saying it to about three other women too. His eyes were saying a lot and she was trying to believe the clear non-verbal communication. Byron and Myron were both classified as nerds, but Myron was the real nerd of the two. Besides loving technology, Byron and Myron were unique in that they were identical twins in size and height, but with different color complexion. Both men stood six feet three and weighed about 225 lbs. Byron had dark smooth chocolate skin while Myron had a lighter brown complexion like caramel candy. Studies had been done about the twins when they were younger. Their doctor wrote and published an article in a medical journal about their uniqueness.

“Jillian Forrester, look at you?” interrupted Myron who had been standing next to Byron watching them both and waiting his turn.

“Oh my goodness, yes, it’s me. Byron and Myron Randolph? Look at you guys. I had no idea. I realize that this is unorthodox and not the way I normally start a business meeting, but can I have a hug?” They all laughed as Jillian embraced each twin, Myron first and then Byron. They smelled like Yves Saint Laurent’s latest cologne and dressed in similar clothing, but not matching tailored suits. The days of the twins wearing matching outfits had been abandoned by the time they reached their middle teens. Byron, being the mischievous one, took both her hands in his once the embrace ended and he slightly swayed them back and forth. He stood there holding and gently rubbing her hands in a slow circular motion that left Jillian quite uncomfortable. Byron knew he was wrong, but didn’t want to let her hands go. He kept looking into her eyes to gage her reaction and to soak her all in.

Byron thought, ‘Oh my goodness this is Jillian Forrester standing right in front of me.’ Byron tried not to reveal with his eyes all of the rush of emotions that were going on in his head not to mention the fast beat of his heart at the sight of her. He thought, ‘If she only knew how good it is to really see her. Get a grip and calm down boy.’

A look of confusion came on Jillian’s face at how Byron was looking at her. She never dated or even had any thought that Byron even liked her other than a friend when they were younger. What is this? Jillian looked down at the floor quickly realizing that this was suddenly a very awkward and misunderstood moment. They both forgot they were in a corporate office and that there were other people in the room. Jillian had so many questions running through her brain. Byron, on the other hand, was continuing to take her all in. Jillian knew that she must somehow stop this scene from getting any worse or misreading the whole situation. She came back to herself from her thoughts in time to remember she was ignoring the third man in the room. She removed her hands from Byron’s grasp and turned her attention to the other gentleman.

“I am so sorry your name is James right? I don’t know you that well or I would hug you too.” Everyone laughed as she shook his hand. James was much taller standing about six foot five and two hundred sixty five pounds. He looked like he could be a defensive end or tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals or some celebrity’s body guard. This very large, gorgeous gentleman was standing there with an iPad, leather portfolio and iPhone. At five foot three, Jillian felt like a midget compared to these three men. Jillian enjoyed the sudden attention and affection, but knew they must get down to business.

“Well, shall we all have a seat?” Each man took a seat around Jillian’s small conference table and Byron placed himself to her left, Myron was on her right and James was seated next to Myron.

YMS: Now this is a hard question because I have never thought about it. Off the top of my head, I would say the tears of my soul.

AT: Beautiful. Do you believe in love at first sight?
YMS: When I was younger I believed in love at first sight but as I grew older I changed my mind. I would call it more of infatuation more than anything. I need to earn a person before I fall in love with them. It may work for others.

AT: I can understand that. If a genie granted you three wishes, what would they be? (can't ask for more wishes)
YMS: If I was granted three wishes from a genie I would choose success for my books, a better world that we live in, and great health.

AT: Great wishes. Are you spring, summer, fall, or winter? Please share why.
YMS: I will say winter because I am born in December and I have always loved the cold months. Also I love football and wearing high heeled boots.

AT: Love me some local football! Tea or coffee?
YMS: I can't choose between the both because I like them both.  I drink the cold coffee and hot and cold tea.

AT: Nothing wrong with that! Tell us about your most recent/current project.
YMS: The book I am working on now is called One Night to Forever.
Here is the blurb:

About the book
A SCOOP OF LOVE~ SONS OF ISHMAEL BOOK I

The oldest of the Danjuma brothers, Rasheed was a self-made man. He’d learned at an early age that love and commitment brought with it complications he didn’t want to deal with. His single-minded focus had paid off. He was able to step into the shoes of his absentee father by taking care of his mother and twin brothers. But just when he thought he could stop carrying the weight of his family on his shoulders, he gets a call that could change the trajectory of Rasheed’s life. Ibiso Jaja, a professional caterer, had gambled on the love of a man and lost. Through the redeeming love of God, she had picked herself up and was now living her dream as the owner of Bisso Bites, a bistro in the heart of Abuja. However circumstances conspire to threaten the bistro and bring her face to face with the type of man she has vowed to avoid. The attraction is instant. Once again, Rasheed is forced to do something he has done all his life – put the needs of his family ahead of his own. This time however, he crosses path with the sassy, independent, Jesus-loving caterer who is bent on making him see the power of forgiveness and God’s love. Just when Rasheed lets his guard down, a deadly sabotage causes old demons to rise. Will Rasheed continue to pursue power and success or surrender to the light of God’s love?

Rasheed Danjuma sighed aloud at the sight of another unwanted email from the law
offices of Ezekiel and Stanley. These lawyers were beginning to work his last nerve. He placed his finger over the touchpad of his laptop, directed the cursor to the delete icon and pressed it.It had been six months since Zayd Danjuma, the man that contributed to his genetic makeup had passed away. And his lawyers were still hounding him. Rasheed had thought his non-attendance of the funeral service was a clear indication of his disinterest in anything they had to say about his so-called father.

Determined not to let the email ruin his day, he picked up the receiver and dialed his
assistant’s extension. She picked up at the first ring.

“Yes, Rasheed?”

“Have you heard anything back from those clients in the United States?”

“No, I didn’t,” she said. “But while you were on your conference call, your mother
called.”

Rasheed felt a strange rise in his stomach. His mother almost never called him on his office phone unless she wanted to reach him in a hurry. “Did she leave a message?”

“No, she just said to let you know she called.”

“Okay, thank you.” He disconnected the call.

Rasheed walked over to his jacket and pulled out his cell phone. Looking out of the large window of his Hyde Park office, his sense of unease grew. He checked, and there were three missed called from his mother. His voice mail was empty. What was going on? He dialed his mother. She answered on the third ring.

“Mama, you tried to reach me. Is everything okay?”

“Nna, I really don’t know how to answer that.”

His mother used her term of endearment, Nna, for her sons when she wanted to ask for something she knew they didn’t want to give.“What is it?”

“Those lawyers from your father’s estate came to see me today,” she said. “Rasheed, I don’t want those men in my shop or house. I’m asking you again to come home and see what they want.”
Rasheed’s jaw set. How dare those lawyers hound his mother? Why was it so important that he and his brothers attend the stupid will reading? Even though it had been twenty-five years since their father had walked out of their lives, the memory of that morning was still vivid. Their father didn’t care about them in life, so why was he so concerned about their well-being in death? Squaring up against those lawyers himself was one thing, but when they involved his mother, it was totally different. He wouldn’t have it.

“You mean they came to your shop?” Rasheed asked as though he didn’t hear her the first time. Anger shot through his feet as he began to pace the length of his office.

“Yes.” His mother’s voice sounded shaky. “It’s one thing for them to call but to show up,I don’t appreciate it. They almost scared my customers away.”

After his mother had retired as a school administrator, she had decided she couldn’t sit idle. Her love of fashion led to the opening of a boutique in the heart of Abuja’s business district. Within months, the business had flourished. Rasheed had supported her because whatever made his mother happy made him happy, too. After many years of living in pain, she deserved to live her life in peace. They all did.

Rasheed’s mind went back to the email he’d received earlier in the day. Since these
lawyers were playing hardball, it was clear he had no choice but to travel to Nigeria. “If those lawyers call you again, tell them I’ll be there soon.”

His mother’s sigh expressed her relief. “God bless you, my son.”

“It’s okay, Mama. They better make it worth my while. If not, I won’t be held responsible for my actions.”

ANCHORED BY LOVE~ SONS OF ISHMAEL SERIES BOOK II

When cardiac surgeon, Jabir Danjuma met Damisi Odinga at the University of Michigan seven years ago, it wasn’t necessarily love at first sight. With love comes commitment and he knows that’s not a promise he could keep, after all he is his father’s son. However, their attraction can’t be denied. Their ensuing one year romance is passionate and intense, and he begins to feel the forbidden emotion—love. Just as he starts to let his guard down, Damisi breaks up with him and moves half way around the world to Lagos, Nigeria. He knows immediately that the demise of their relationship has something to do with that church she joined. She becomes unrecognizable and wants to change him into something he is not. His studies are the most important thing to him, so he did what any sane man would do, let her go. Popular television personality Damisi Odinga, needs to end the fourth season of her show Becoming Ruth, with a bang. The trending topic in the country is the fairy-tale wedding of the heir to the Danjuma empire. The family has been shrouded in secrecy ever since the unknown sons resurfaced in the country last year. Coverage of the wedding weekend will give her show the boost it needs and seal its number one rating. No one can get an interview with the couple but she had a way in, her ex man, Jabir Danjuma. So what if he broke her heart and she hasn’t been able to get over him? This was kingdom business, right? Years ago, Damisi left him without an explanation and now Jabir has her just where he wants her. Their encounter sets off a series of events that leave them both with fresh pain and hurt. Angry, they leave Abuja to their destinations. If they didn’t set eyes on each other again it would be too soon. But little did they know that fate has another thing planned. Will they stick it out long enough for the Potter to perfect their scars and pain for His purpose or will distance and time steal the day.

Thirty minutes later, Jabir was in the KTN lobby waiting for Damisi. He got curious stares from the receptionist and guard. He didn’t know whether it was because he looked like Kamal—someone they’d recognize—or because Damisi never received male visitors. He hoped it was the latter.
The space was decorated in light colors, and the walls were decorated with paintings or pictures of guests of their shows. He walked to the one the one that had Damisi in it. She was on the set of her show and looked beautiful. She had a microphone in her hand and was smiling. From the picture, he could see she loved what she did. His eyes saddened at what the scandal would do to her career. If they acted fast, she might have a chance of salvaging it, but she was too stubborn, and his approach wasn’t helping either. He had to get her to see reason.

“What are you doing here?” she whispered behind him.

Jabir turned around and marveled at how gorgeous she looked. He smiled inwardly.

“I figured you could use breakfast.” He handed her the smoothie and the box of pastries.

She took it from him slowly, her eyes softening with gratitude. “Thank you, but you shouldn’t be here.”

Jabir frowned. “Why? Expecting someone?”

She grabbed his wrist and tried to pull him to the corner. He resisted at first, but caved when he saw the plea in her eyes. “I really appreciate the breakfast, but I thought you were supposed to be on your way to Badagry. I really don’t need any rumors started.”

He lifted his brow. “Rumors? I’m not doing anything but making sure you’re fed. The baby needs to eat.”

She looked around in shocked horror. “Shhhh. Do you want to say it a little louder?” She rolled her eyes at him and he chuckled. “Jabir, please you can’t be here. In case you forgot, you look like one of the most recognizable Nigerian soccer players. I can’t do the rumor mill now.”

He wanted to dismiss her argument, but he was running late, and she was right. But then he had another idea. “Okay, I’ll leave on one condition.”

“Really?”

“Really.” He smirked.

Some people walked past them and did a double take. Damisi panicked. “What is it?”

“Have dinner with me when I get back.”

Damisi hesitated, then someone she knew walked over to say hello to them. By now, he could see the fury in her eyes. The daggers in them were aimed at him. He raised his eyebrow.

“I can’t believe you. Okay. Go,” she said hurriedly and turned away. He watched her go, but smiled when she walked back his way. “Thank you, and please drive safe.”

Yep. This new approach just might work. There was hope.
